Silver FM already making waves in Kumasi
Silver FM is making waves in the Ashanti Region and gradually establishing its name among the top radio stations in the regional capital, Kumasi.

Owned by the current Bantamahene and former CEO of Asante Kotoko, Baffour Owusu Amankwaatia VI, Silver FM is one of the new radio stations that joined the already saturated media industry in the region.
The radio station which started test transmission in April this year and assumed full operation about three months ago, was among the top 10 radio stations that the National Media Commission (NMC) monitored for this year’s election monitoring report.
Silver FM featured prominently in the scheme of affairs and was found to be one of the stations that devoted lots of time to political and electioneering issues.
However, just like the other radio stations, it was also caught in the web of media houses that focused less on women issues and female politicians.
The report which was presented by the Executive Secretary of the NMC, Mr George Sarpong, noted that the station devoted about 52 per cent of stories on New Patriotic Party while the National Democratic Congress got 33 per cent of airtime.
The Independent People’s Party (IPP) had two per cent (2%) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) got a paltry one per cent of time on the station’s airwaves.
In a chat with Showbiz, Mr Aaron Owusu Asare, General Manager of the station, expressed satisfaction with the report and promised the station would improve in the areas where it was found wanting.

“As a relatively new station, we were surprised that it caught the attention of the NMC to be included in such a monitoring activity”, he said.
Other radio stations that were included in the report were Angel FM, Kessben FM, Ashh FM, Fox FM, Boss FM, Ultimate FM, Otec FM and Garden City Radio.
