Written by Eve Ensler and directed by Abdul Karim Hakib, the play describes  the female experience and serves as an alternative educative platform.

It touches on issues that are normally  considered very important but a taboo to talk about.

Although sensual in one form or another, Vagina Monologues touches on the existence of the female and uses it as an avenue for empowerment.

Indeed, the monologues that make up the play reflect on poignant ideas such as sexuality, cheating, hatred, rape, HIV/AIDS, maternal mortality, among others.

An apostle of experiments, Hakib, contextualises the issues treated and blends indigenous arts with contemporary elements to showcase contents that tend to resonate with any audience.

He employs a guitarist and a pianist in projecting a typical African sorrowful scene while ensuring that these monologues reveal the sacred nature of the female temple and depict the tribulations the female figure is made to go through during a lifetime.

Ipass Ghana, Horseman Shoes, YFM, Citi FM and www.artsghana.org are sponsoring both performances.
