Shatta Wale wins two awards at IRAWMA
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has won two awards at the 43rd IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music Awards), held in Florida last weekend.
He won Best African Dancehall Entertainer and Concert of the Year for his ShattaFest show.
His team thanked the award organisers and his fans in a statement.
"Management would like to sincerely appreciate the organisers of the IRAWMA awards for the recognition and continuous support for African music on the global stage."
"We also extend our deepest gratitude to fans across the world, especially the Shatta Movement fraternity, for their unwavering support, votes, and dedication throughout the years," the statement said.
His team also said the wins prove Shatta Wale is one of Africa's biggest music stars and an important name in dancehall music worldwide.
These two wins bring his total IRAWMA awards to 11. Last year, he won three awards at the same event: Best African Dancehall Entertainer, Best Music Video for "Killa Ji Mi", and Best Crossover Song for "Commando" featuring Bounty Killer.
