Shatta Wale and Medikal set Dec. 23 to pray for Ghana's music industry
Popular Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale is undoubtedly a major player in Ghana’s music industry but his influence has not shielded him from being a strong critique of the industry.
For years, the 2014 VGMA Artiste of the Year winner has been lamenting about what his perception of the poor state of the industry.
Well, it appears he means serious business to see the growth of the industry and intends to seek divine intervention as he, together with rapper, Medikal and fans will hold a prayer marathon for Ghana’s music industry on Saturday, December 23 at Accra Sports Stadium.
The said prayer day forms part of the lineup of activities for this year’s Freedom Wave festival as announced by the organisers on the promotional flyer for the five- day event which is expected to start on Wednesday, December 20 with the arrival of regional fan bases.
Other activities for the festival are exhibition of Shatta Movement merchandise, pre-concert with new artistes, dress rehearsal for artiste and the Freedom Wave concert on Monday, December 25.
The Freedom Wave festival is a collaboration between Shatta Wale and Medikal and it aims to celebrate Ghana's vibrant music scene and provide a platform for emerging talents to shine.
The decision to include a day of prayer, perhaps underscores the ‘I Know My Level crooner’s commitment to the growth and prosperity of the music industry, as had been his posture over the years.
The Freedom Wave festival is an upgrade of the annual Freedom Wave concert which the duo started in 2021.
The previous two editions held at the Accra Sports stadium attracted huge numbers and it’s anticipated that this year’s event, which is now a festival, will be bigger and better.
