Peki-Dzake picnic was a jam
The Chiefs and people of Peki-Dzake in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region on Easter Monday turned the banks of the popular Homblor River into a merry making and jam spot as part of activities to climax Easter celebrations.

The river flows from Dzake through adjourning communities to Abutia in the Ho West District and surrounded by a thick of bamboo plantation boasts of a unique taste.
Homlor River which has for more than five decades served as a source of water supply to the community became a major tourist attraction to mostly young people and visitors to the community.
While some revellers danced their hearts out to popular Borborbor music, others turned the climbing plants that had grown on teak trees close to the river into some kind of abseiling facility by climbing the trees and descended using the ropes, a scene that saw excited crowds cheered them on.
The Assemblyman for the Peki-Dzake electoral area of the South Dayi District, Mr Victor Amegbe told Graphic Showbiz that the idea of turning the banks of the river into fanfare venue was to ensure the river is preserved.
He indicated that the river had served several generations in the community prior to the extension of pipe borne water to the community a little over a decade ago.
“Before we had water flowing through our pipes, the Homblor River, though not that big and wide has served the community and neighbouring towns without it going dry even during the dry seasons”, he said.
“The massive patronage we have witnessed this year clearly shows that if we organised our events well, the riverside could become a major convergence point for carnivals within the district”, he added.
He appealed to citizens of the town living in Ghana and abroad to endeavour to contribute their quota to the development of the community.
At the end of the day, most patrons of the picnic could not resist to do a ‘take-away’ of the gallons of the Homblor River which boasts of a unique taste.
