In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, CEO of Don’s Music Production, Dennis Boafo popularly known as Don D said there will be nominee announcement party on April 15, 2023 at Waterford - Springfield Virginia in the USA.

He noted the main event will be held on August 26,2023 and the venue is yet to be decided.

Next year’s event is the fifth edition of the GMA-USA which was established to encourage and recognise Ghanaian musicians in the diaspora, especially in the US to actively spearhead the promotion of Ghana’s culture through music.

This year’s was held on August 20 at the Lincoln Theater in Columbus, Ohio and themed The Music Matters. Highlife artiste Kofi Kinaata was named Artiste of the Year.

The night also saw Black Sherif, Diana Hamilton, Kuami Eugene and KiDi, among others bag various awards for their works in the year under review.

Although it is a platform to promote and honour Ghanaian musicians and their works outside the country, Don D lamented about the challenges including securing US visas for those who matter to attend the event.

He called for a close collaboration with the US Embassy in Ghana since the awards scheme was pushing Ghana’s cultural identity through music.

“There are always challenges with securing visas for the artistes but I can assure the US Embassy in Ghana that we, the organisers are committed at making sure that those who travel on our ticket for GMA-US return to Ghana”, he stated.
