Diana Hopeson to launch Golden Jubilee Sunday

Gospel musician Diana Hopeson turns 50 on Sunday, August 30 and she is launching a year-long celebration on that day to mark her golden jubilee.

For starters, Diana will celebrate her big day with family and a few close friends at an event which will be streamed virtually for her followers to watch online.

On September 20, Diana, together with other veteran Gospel musicians like Stella Seal, Mary Ghansah and Helena Rhabbles will be in action at the Women In Worship concert at the Action Chapel.

On September 27, Diana Hopeson, who is a former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), will launch an album titled Hope Volume 1 while the launch of her autobiography comes off on October 26.

Other activities will follow from November 2020 to August 2021 to mark the year-long golden jubilee including Epiphany, Valentine's Special, Ghana Month and Easter Special.

Talking of how her 50-year journey has been in an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Friday, August 28, this is what she had to say. “It has been very interesting, exciting, there have been boring days, there have been challenges and there has been advancement all mixed together but it makes it so beautiful and I am excited that I get to join the golden age.”

Diana Hopeson used the opportunity to thank her family, friends and fans for being so supportive of her all these years and asked them to continue supporting her ministry, “I am genuinely grateful to everybody for being a part of my journey, continue to support me and may the good Lord bless us all,” she said.

Diana Hopeson gained attention on the music scene with her maiden album titled Winner which had hit songs such as the album title and Onyame Ye Odomfo.

She has been through a lot; her first marriage to the late Rev. Samuel Akiwumi, with who she had a son, collapsed and played out in the public domain with reports of abuse among others. It later emerged that he had a bipolar disorder. He is deceased.

However, she got a second chance when she met and married Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson in 2007.

A graduate of the University of Ghana where she studied Theatre Arts, Diana was given a National Honours award by former President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2007 in recognition of her contribution to the arts industry.

She served as president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) from 2007 to 2011, taking over from Alhaji Sidiku Buari. She handed over to immediate past President Bice 'Obour' Osei Kuffour.

Diana Hopeson is the CEO for GHMusic Publishing and Management www.ghmusicpublishing.com and Deputy Director of Reconciliation Alliance Consult (RAC Consult).

She is also the co-founder and Deputy Director, Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR), Lausanne Arts Catalyst at Large and describes herself as a Missionary of the creative arts industry.

Although not as active on the scene, Diana Hopeson has continued recording and releases songs once in a while.
