Students having a talk with Madam Dzifa Gomashie

Akwaaba celebration at Ghana Institute of Languages

The Ghana Institute of Languages (GIL) has organised a two-day Akwaaba event to welcome both fresh and continuing students of the institute.

The event which was under the theme, “Empowering the 21st century man or woman to impact his or her generation” started on Friday with a launch and keynote address by Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.

 

In her keynote address, Madam Dzifa Gomashie used her own experience to educate the students on life’s choices and the role of students in the society.

There was a question and answer session with the minister after which Ms Habiba Masoud, the Women’s Commisioner of GIL, presented a citation to Madam Gomashie on behalf of the students.

During the launch, the welcome address was given by the SRC President Kodjo Galley Edem Waklatsi. Michael Paa-Quesy Adu, the NUGS President was the chairman of the occasion.

Patrons were treated to musical performances by the T-Twins.

The Akwaaba event was climaxed on Saturday with a fun trip to Lloyds Beach Resort at Kokrobite where the students went to ‘chillax’, interact and have a good time.
