The 26-page glossy magazine, which is also online, has interesting bits which offer readers a blend of African entertainment, African fashion, folklore, women empowerment and real life stories, among others. It also presents the best of what Africa has to offer in terms of using its cultural heritage as a bit for modern development.

Though a good number of Africans are knowledgeable of their culture and values, there is no denial that most Africans living outside Africa have lost touch of their cultural roots and traditional values that identifies them as Africans.

The publication is therefore  in line with telling the aspects of the African culture such as folklores and folktales that are regarded as unique and beautiful, yet are viewed as uncivilised by those who seem to gain acceptance in the majority Western culture.

In an interview with Daily Graphic, the Publisher and Editor of the magazine, Miss Efua Anowa Brako, said that she was inspired to publish the Adinkra magazine following her passion to bring the African culture and traditions to its people irrespective of where they find themselves in the world.

Since ancient times, storytelling in the African culture has been a way of passing traditions on to generations but such things have been lost with the advent of technology but Miss Anowa Brako said that the world’s advancement should not hinder Africans from knowing their cultural roots and heritage.

“Any people without identity are lost and as Africans, if we don’t know our past, how do we know where we are going to?  Adinkra magazine is here to tell Africans to uphold its values, culture and traditions as we tell our own story to the world” she said.
