Uganda’s Aamito is Africa’s Next Top Model

 

 

 

The maiden edition of Oluchi Orlandi’s Africa’s Next Top Model competition, came to an end last Sunday.

The competition, which first aired on November 10, 2013, saw Ugandan model, Aamito,  crowned winner, beating two other finalists: Michaelo from Angola and Opeyemi from Nigeria.

The nine contestants who were eliminated over nine weeks comprised South Africa's Cheandri Van Blerk, Michelle and Rhulani, Kenya's Stefi, Ghana's Roselyn Ashkar, Tunisia's Marwa Faiza and Mozambican model, Safira Mariquele.

“My family and friends we have done it! it couldn’t have been possible without you all; thank you,” Aamito said soon after she was announced winner.

“Africa but first, my beautiful country Uganda who have put all their trust in me; encouraged and supported me from day one; thank you.

“Beautiful Africa and even more beautiful people from around the world that have all shown me nothing but love.

“I am extremely humbled and overwhelmed by the tremendous and mind blowing support you beauties have shown me over the past 10 weeks.”

A successful first attempt, the ANTM is a baby product of Nigerian supermodel, Oluchi.

It “follows supermodel hopefuls from all over the continent as they strive to prove they have what it takes to make in the cut-throat world of modeling.

“The show documents a continent-wide search to find 12 top contenders who will compete for a coveted modeling contract and a shot at the career of a lifetime.”
