'Talk to me' – Soorebia

It's the desire of every artiste to have that break through and capture the hearts of music lovers from diverse backgrounds. And that was the intention of Upper East region artiste, Soorebia when he heavily promoted his song, Primus in Accra early this year.

The song which featured female hip-hop artiste, Ayillah got him some attention in the  country’s capital and to maintain the new “status”, he released other songs, Krifei (Godly) and Kimakihna.

As if that is not enough, the 24-year-old is out with yet another song titled, Talk To Me which features new dancehall sensation, Ital.

“It’s not easy to get recognition as a young artiste from Upper East in Accra. It takes a lot of hard work and a fighting spirit to reach this height because all the attention and music business seem to be thriving in Accra.

“However, I was privileged when some of my songs where played on radio stations in Accra and it got me some interviews as well. To maintain the new interest I have found in Accra, I released this song to cement the relationship,” he told Showbiz in an interview last Friday.

Talk To Me, a  fast – tempo song in honour of the virtuous qualities of women as Soorebia puts it, talks about a man showering praises on a lady he wants to woo.

He testifies to her good behaviour and how he would not hesitate to walk down the aisle with her when she accepts his proposal. To ensure that he achieves the purpose, he makes a lot of promises with the hope of winning her.

An Afro pop song with a hint of Dancehall, Talk To Me produced by Azkonnah Beatz, is a good collaboration from the duo. Soorebia gave a good attempt with his rap and Ital didn’t disappoint with his verse as well.

However, for one who wants to attract the attention of music lovers in Accra, it may be a minus for Soorebia who rapped in English and his native Frafra (Gurune) language but he dismissed the assertion when Showbiz asked him.

“I don’t think I’m limiting my brand by projecting my mother tongue and my roots. There are artistes such as Tinny and Edem who have used music to promote their language. I’m a crusader for my culture and I want to use my platform for the mission,” he explained.

Born Martin Sore, Soreebia who is currently signed to Bolga Boys Things (BBT) record label says he draws his music inspiration from American hip-hop artiste, Kendrick Lamar and Nigerian artiste, M.I.
