Artistes come together for typhoon victims

A collection of Ghanaian artistes have come together  for a fund-raising concert in support of victims of the recent  Haiyan typhoon that hit the Philippines.

The concert, slated for 7.00pm tomorrow, November 29 at the Alliance Francaise, behind Opeibea House in Accra, is expected to feature artistes such as Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Jah Soldierz, Lady Jay, Kyekyeku, Looney, Mutumbo, Natural and  Balinga.

Typhoon Haiyan was  an exceptionally powerful  typhoon that devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines earlier this month.

Thousands of people died and millions lost their homes. Typhoon Haiyan is being regarded as the  deadliest typhoon on record.

The concert is being organised and sponsored by Alliance Francaise, Turtle Gh and Ehalakasa in collaboration with the Association of Filipinos in Ghana.  All proceeds will go to the Typhoon Haiyan Fund in Ghana.

“We urge everyone to come over and enjoy a mix of African, soul, rap, jazz, R&B, reggae, flamenco guitar and much more while contributing to a good cause,” a representative of the organisers said.

A similar concert was held at the Alliance France in 2010 to raise funds for victims of the earthquake that hit Haiti and killed over 200,000 people that year.
