Signed between Hiperdist Ghana and Avaya, the MoU mandates the former to be the main distributor of the latter’s software products in 27 African countries.

Under the agreement, the two companies will focus on driving adoption of Avaya’s innovative technology in most African countries.

At a colourful ceremony in Accra, the two software giants expressed optimism about changing the trend of ICT in Africa.

The occasion was also used to train and expose some IT professionals from the banking, insurance and assurance companies on how to use the various softwares offered by Avaya.

Softwares to offer

In his opening remarks, the Head of Value Business at Hiperdist Ghana, Mr Viren Mathur, expressed excitement about the agreement.

He said the company would offer unified communications and networking solutions ranging from messaging, platform, infrastructure, video conferencing, software defined networking, ethernet switches, access control, wireless networks and network management.

“Hiperdist’s main priority is to focus on the solutions built to enable medium-sized businesses to digitally transform, while improving  productivity and efficiency,” he said.

Evolution of technology

Mr Mathur stressed that there was a total evolution in the IT sector and businesses ought to take advantage of.

He explained that doing business today was highly technological, “so businesses cannot be naïve about the impact of IT on their operations.”

According to him, Hiperdist had been the main distributor of HP, IBM among others and with the coming on board of Avaya, Ghanaian businesses should expect more.

Unified communication

In an interview after the session, the Engineering Director of Avaya Africa, Mr Omar Faunbulleh, said the company’s range of products would unify communications in all sectors, particularly businesses.

“Businesses can use our softwares to do conferences for large numbers through projection since there is a unified communication for all the networks,” he said.

He said the softwares provided efficiency, saved money and offered a lot of income to businesses.

Earlier in his presentation, he charged participants to take the security of their companies seriously since failure to do so would amount to loss of profits and confidence by their customers. — GB
