Prudential Life wins 2025 CSR company of the year

Prudential Life Insurance Ghana was named the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Company of the Year 2025 at the sixth Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Excellence Awards for its investment in social, environmental and community development programmes.

The award recognised the company’s efforts to use its business resources to support initiatives in health, education, financial literacy, environmental sustainability and community development.

The recognition also highlighted the growing role of CSR in the insurance sector, where companies are increasingly supporting initiatives that address social needs while strengthening their relationships with communities and customers.

Community investment

Over the past year, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana had implemented several CSR programmes targeting communities and vulnerable groups.

One of the initiatives was the Mangrove Restoration Project in Obane, Ada, which supported efforts to restore wetlands and protect the local environment.

The company also implemented the PRU Climate Action Project in Chorkor as part of its environmental sustainability activities.

Through its Cha-Ching Financial Literacy Programme, the company had also provided financial education to schoolchildren.

The programme was designed to help young learners develop responsible money habits and improve their understanding of basic financial management.

“CSR is part of how we conduct our business, and we continue to invest in programmes that improve lives and strengthen communities,” Prudential Life Insurance Ghana said.

Skills, education

The company had also supported healthcare initiatives through the PRUCares Valentine Experience, while donations of recycled plastic desks had provided learning infrastructure to schools. Skills training programmes had been organised for vulnerable young women to help them develop skills that could improve their economic opportunities. Staff volunteering activities had also formed part of the company’s CSR efforts.

In education, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana had supported STEM initiatives through the National Science and Maths Quiz and the Prudential Actuarial Support Scheme (PASS) Awards.

The company had also supported the EV Transition Programme as part of its sustainability activities. The company said its CSR investments were intended to support healthier, financially resilient and sustainable communities.

“We believe business performance goes beyond financial results. We measure our contribution by the difference our work makes to people, communities and the environment,” the company said.

The CIIG award therefore recognised a broad range of programmes that had been implemented by Prudential Life Insurance Ghana over the period. The company said it would continue to invest in initiatives aligned with its purpose of being a partner for every life and a protector for every future.
