4G internet service is the latest and fastest data network technology which is based on the LTE (Long Term Evolution) and has the capability to boost data and internet connectivity. Speed and cost however varies at certain points of transmission.
Surfline Communications, Blu and Busy Internet have already launched their own 4G internet services in some parts of Ghana but that of MTN goes countrywide and is available for the first time on mobile phones in Ghana.
MTN Ghana CEO, Ebenezer Asante speaking at the launch said the decision to invest in the 4G spectrum was to give customers access to faster internet connectivity.
He said customers will experience better connectivity and reliable data service which will boost interactivity and business growth.
Noel Ganson, General Manager of consumer services at the launch said as a market leader MTN had rolled out the 4G service to enhance customer’s data and internet experience.
He said at a time when European markets have taken the lead with 4G services, its only proper for MTN to take the bold step to invest in the technology and give its customers better access to faster internet as pertains to advanced parts of the world.
He expressed confidence that the mobile 4G internet service will change the landscape of the telecom industry.
He said MTN will continue to invest in new technology and innovation that will help customers work efficiently and faster, adding that business growth in the 21st century requires faster and reliable internet connectivity.
Customers at the launch were given the opportunity to experience the 4G LTE services and also test the speed of the 4G service at its head office building in Accra as proof that the service is live and functional.
