Ghana’s hospitality industry attracting big investors; No 1 Oxford Hotel & Suites opens for business

Businesses in the country’s hospitality industry are cashing-in on the Year of Return as well as the conducive environment created by the government in the sector to open their business to the rest of the world.

Ghana, as the most peaceful country in the sub-region, is also fast becoming the destination for tourism, including conferencing and relaxation, a phenomenon which has created the need for world-class luxury hotels in the country. This will prevent international guests and celebrities who do business in the country from sleeping over elsewhere outside the jurisdiction.

It is against this background that Ghana’s first luxury hotel and suites, No 1 Oxford Street Hotel and Suites, has opened its doors for business since yesterday to welcome its first guests.

“A unique 5* hotel, No 1 Oxford Street Hotel and Suites is the first luxury hotel and suites in Accra, located on the most popular and well-known Oxford Street, and within the heart of the central business district”, a release issued in Accra yesterday said.

It said with suites ranging from 46-246 square metres (sqm) all with balconies, fully equipped kitchens and living and dining areas, the hotel offers the largest suites in the city based on a concept which allows guests to spend time in a space they had paid for, under the slogan, “at No 1 Oxford Street Hotel and Suites, you get a home away from home.”

Official opening

The release said the hotel, which would have its grand opening in April 2020, would offer a full complement of services.

“The hotel’s 116- seater Amuse restaurant, is a modern French brasserie with a Mediterranean selection. Guests are also welcome to enjoy a cocktail in the stylish and subdued Oxford Bar, the ideal place for an intimate or convivial moment”, it said.

The General Manager of the hotel, Shousha Mohsen, said: “We are happy to open our doors for the soft opening of No 1 Oxford Street Hotel and Suites. The hotel embraces our vision of luxury with its modern design and focus on delivering superior hospitality; allowing guests to relax while they make unforgettable memories.”

“This is an extremely exciting project for Ghana’s hospitality industry. At No 1 Oxford Street Hotel and Suites, we will deliver international standards of service, while offering incredible food and drink, entertainment and recreation. We look forward to welcoming you all,” he said in the release.

Optimism

The call for investors to do business in the country continues to resonate among people who see the country as a safe haven to protect and grow their investment.

Being an environment many consider too expensive to venture into, investors who dare to enter do so because of the potential they see ahead and the level of optimism for stability and growth.
