Sept 30: FIFA extends mandate of GFA Normalisation Committee

World football governing body, FIFA has reviewed the terms of engagement of the GFA Normalisation Committee, handing them a six-month extension.

FIFA also announced that former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kufuor has been appointed onto the committee replacing Lawyer Duah Adonteng.

The tenure of the Normalisation Committee was expected to expire by March 31, 2019, provided it had properly fulfilled its mandate listed below;

- To run the GFA’s daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana;

- To review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes, and;

- Once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organise and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.

Task Force

The President of the Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah at a press briefing Friday also disclosed the creation of a Task Force by FIFA that will ensure that the GFA will be restored to normalcy.

The Joint Task Force is comprised of President of the Normalization Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah, Peter Limacher from FIFA, Jean Samuel Leuba from FIFA, Godfred Dame a representative of the Government of Ghana and Solomon Mudege also from FIFA.
