Winners of the WPL in the two zones would receive ¢50,000 each while the runners-up will bank GH¢30,000.

These were the same prize monies presented to Hearts of Oak who won the 2020-2021 GPL and Hasaacas Ladies, the WPL champions for the same season.

However, the respective winners of the Division One League (DOL) in the three zones will receive cars as well as gold medals, while the runners up in that competition will receive cash rewards.

Announcing this at the launch of the football season, the GFA President, Kurt E.S Okraku said the package for the respective competitions was intended to maintain the competitive nature of the leagues.

“Last season was super and I am sure this season will be extraordinary,” Mr Okraku said.

“We have come a long way in putting these products together and I would like to call on clubs, referees and all the major stakeholders to come on board for us to organize a successful League season,” he added.

The GPL will kick off on Friday, October 29, with debutants Accra Lions FC hosting Elmina Sharks at the Accra Stadium in an evening game.

Also scheduled for Match Day One are Dream FC against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Saturday, Hearts of Oak host Legon Cities while returnees, Real Tamale United welcome Great Olympics to the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday.
