Background
Nsoatreman FC officially confirmed via their social media handle on Sunday, November 19, 2023, that their coach, Maxwell Konadu, had been attacked by Bofoakwa Tano fans following a Ghana Premier League match at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The football club stated that the attack on their coach was motivated by "picking up a point in a draw game against the home team Bofoakwa Tano."
The intense match, which took place during week 11 of the Ghana Premier League, ended in a goalless draw, securing Nsoatreman's second position on the league table, ahead of Bofoakwa Tano, who had made a promising start to the 2023/2024 season.
In a shocking turn of events, Coach Konadu, a former assistant coach of the Black Stars, was not the only target of the fans' aggression in Sunyani. Referee Robert Musey and his assistants were also reportedly subjected to physical attacks by Bofoakwa Tano supporters.
In response to the violence, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has imposed an immediate temporary ban on Bofoakwa Tano FC from utilizing the Sunyani Coronation Park as its home venue.
