Akoto and Amoah triumph at 2023 Ghana Amateur Seniors Golf Championship

In a thrilling display of golf prowess, Hajia Zenabu Akoto and Isaac Kofi Amoah secured victories in the Ladies and Men's categories, respectively, at the 2023 Ghana Amateur Seniors Championship organised by the Ghana Golf Association and held last Friday at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club in Accra.

Akoto, exhibiting exceptional skill, clinched the Ladies title by amassing an impressive 147 net score, maintaining her winning streak at the Bok Nam Kim golf course with over three victories this year. 

The keenly contested event featured nine talented golfers, with Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong and Mona Captan Myles Lamptey closely following Akoto on the leaderboard with 150 and 154 net scores, respectively.

Expressing her delight in an interview, Akoto shared her excitement about the victory and expressed eagerness to conclude the year with additional triumphs on the golf course.

"Winning is not easy but with hardwork and dedication, it can become part and parcel of you," Akoto said.

In the Men's category, Isaac Kofi Amoah, aged 66, showcased his golfing prowess by securing the title with an impressive net score of 148. 

Amoah's stellar performance earned him the coveted trophy, surpassing competitors John Quarshie and Chris Apau-Opong, who accumulated 149 and 151 net scores, respectively.

"I have been waiting to win something since I started playing golf, and I am happy with this trophy," remarked an elated Amoah in an interview with the Daily Graphic.

Additionally, Nash Antwi emerged as the triumphant winner of the Under 60 support event, held alongside the main championship, adding to the excitement and competitive spirit of the day's golfing festivities.
