MTN FA Cup semis tomorrow. Who makes it to the final?

The fates of Premier League clubs, Liberty Professionals and Bechem United, in this year’s MTN FA Cup lie in the hands of their determined Division One opponents as they battle for places in the grand final at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi today.

Hot favourites Liberty Professionals are chasing their first ever title, same as Bechem United who are also bent on cutting a slice of history in this novelty double-header.

However, standing between Liberty professionals and that big dream is Okwawu United, who are also eyeing their second title after their maiden triumph as far back as 1986.

Bechem United have fellow giant killers, Wa Rockets, who kicked out WA All Stars, to contend with before dreaming of winning the trophy.

After defeating Elmina Sharks 3-0 in the quarter-finals, the Dansoman-based side still fancies its chances in the absence of the big guns, with their livewire Latiif Blessing describing the game as a perfect opportunity towards winning the competition.

The goal poacher is expected to again carry his side on his tiny shoulders against an opponent which has already made mince meat of three Premiership clubs — Dreams FC, Hasaacas and WAFA.

This second game of the day which kicks off at 6pm will be quite interesting, especially where Okwawu United have openly declared their readiness to go to Africa next year.

Bechem United, on the other hand, reached this stage after beating giants Asante Kotoko 3-2 on penalties at the last eight stage and will engage Wa Rockets in an unpredictable match as both sides struggle in their various leagues.

However, Bechem, who are making a steady progress in the second round of the Premier League, will enter the game on a high after thrashing Techiman City 2-0 in midweek and look set to carry the day at 3p.m.

According to the FA Cup Committee (FACC), tickets for the double-header will go for GH¢13 for Popular Stand and GH¢10 for the VIP Stand.

As an extra incentive for the fans who will throng the Baba Yara Stadium tomorrow, each ticket will attract a GH¢1 mtn recharge card and a bottle of soft drink.
