Ghana’s Black Queens have taken a 3-0 lead against Namibia at the Accra Sports Stadium in their final lap of the qualifying series for the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco.

Doris Boaduwaa scored the opener in the 26th minute after firing home a shot from the 18-yard box.

The Namibians win a freekick but goalkeeper Cynthia Findiib goes to the rescue.

The Queens have recorded their second goal, courtesy skipper Portia Boakye's solo effort in the 38th minute.

The Queens have regrouped after the unfortunate own goal with Evelyn Badu finding the back of the net in the 74th minute but her effort has been ruled off side.

The Ghanaians still labouring for a fourth goal. Badu still pushing upfront but her shot narrowly misses the post again.

Game ended 3-1 in favour of the Black Queens at the Accra Sports Stadium. The second leg will be played in Namibia on Tuesday, November 5, 2023.

The Queens progressed to this stage after beating their Rwanda counterparts 7-0 in the first leg of the penultimate round before recording a 5-0 victory at the Accra Stadium to wrap this qualifying leg 12-0 on aggregate to keep their onward march in the campaign.

On the other hand, Namibia advanced to this final round with a 5-2 win over Gambia in the two-leg tie honoured in Morocco as they both played home away from home. Namibia won the first leg 3-2 and also the second leg 2-0.
