Kotoku Royals close to premiership qualification

The pride of Akyem Kotoku, Kotoku Royals FC, brightened their chances of qualifying for the Ghana Premier League when they defied the massive home support to beat Uncle T United 1-0 in their Zone 3 Division One League match at Prampram on Sunday.

Kotoku Royals who are the Zone 3 league leaders, scored the match winner in the 50th minute from a spot kick expertly converted by skipper Kingsley Afriyie. Striker Augustine Boakye weaved through the Uncle T defence and was brought down in the penalty box by an Uncle T United defender.

Afriyie converted the resultant spot kick to give Kotoku Royals the much-needed winner.

With only one match left against Tema Youth at Tema on Sunday, Kotoku Royals are leading the league table with 62 points, three clear points ahead of Tema Youth and one point more than second-placed Liberty Professionals.
