Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Steve Polack, is unlikely to sit on the bench when his charges clash with arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Team doctor, Michael Leat, told a press conference in Kumasi yesterday that Coach Polack’s availability could not be confirmed as he was still under observation.

But the team, has put in place a system where the coach would be controlling affairs from the comfort of his home through two stand-in coaches.

Youth coach, Ernest Appau, and goalkeeper’s trainer, Joe Baah, are likely to build a strong opposition to face Hearts on Sunday with the backing of Polack via a cell-phone.

Coach Polack suffered a knee injury three weeks ago in a motor accident at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region when the team was returning from Accra after honouring a midweek game against Inter Allies.

The accident also claimed the life of the team’s Deputy Equipment Manager, Thomas Asare.

Dr Leat said with the exception of Ashitey Ollenu who is still in crutches and Emmanuel Gyamfi who got injured while training with the Black Stars team B, every player was ready for the big game on Sunday.

The fans, who hitherto had kicked against management’s decision to honour the match on grounds that the players were not match-fit, were said to have rescinded their decision.

The management said it expected the Baba Yara Stadium to be packed to help the team avenge an earlier loss to Hearts during the first round of the league.
