Kwame Boateng — Kotoko’s lone goal hero

Kotoko pip Hasaacas

Kumasi Asante Kotoko recorded their first victory of the season after defeating Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday to restore smiles on the faces of  their followers.

Kotoko laboured hard until Kwame Boateng scored in the 71st minute to hand the Porcupine Warriors a deserved win, having wasted many scoring chances in the first half against a difficult Hasaacas side.

Boateng’s winning goal was a fitting reward for their cheering fans who defied a downpour which began before kickoff to rally the team to victory, which lifted Coach David Duncan’s side to the 11th position on the league log ahead of this weekend’s fifth week clashes.

It was a game that saw Kotoko goalkeeper Ernest Sowah virtually on holiday until he was forced to make three important saves in the second half to stop any comeback by the visiting side who resorted to time wasting in a bid to frustrate Kotoko’s game plan.

Surprisingly, Kotoko, who had dominated the game, also resorted to time-wasting tactics after Boateng’s goal ostensibly to protect their slim lead.
