The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has called upon all Ghanaian athletes and armwrestling enthusiasts to participate and represent Ghana in both local and international competitions.

Scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 20, at Wesley Grammar School in Dansoman, Accra, the K-Balm National Armwrestling Championship serves as a platform to select athletes for the National Armwrestling Team, known as Golden Arms. This is particularly crucial as Ghana prepares to host the 12th edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship and the 2024 Africa Games. Mr. Robert Appiah Ameyaw, the Competitions Director at GAF, explained that the choice of a school venue aims to engage more youth in the sport and introduce them to the armwrestling experience through the championship.

The one-day event is organized by the IOC Team from the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, with support from 442images. Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, President of GAF, emphasized the importance of strengthening the federation's Athletes Brigade for the upcoming 2023 Africa Armwrestling Championship, which Ghana will host. He also highlighted the inclusion of armwrestling as a sport in the 2024 Africa Games, expressing Ghana's desire to host and excel in the competition while providing talented Ghanaians with the opportunity to represent their country.

Mr. Asibey extended an invitation to all interested Ghanaians who wish to showcase their talent and strength and represent Ghana in local and international competitions. Registration and participation in the battles, including both left and right arm contests, as well as para-armwrestling, are open to both males and females. He specifically encouraged more female participants and members of the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) and the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) to register and make a name for themselves in the sport.

In addition, selected athletes from regional teams in Ashanti, Northern, Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta/Oti, and Western/Western North have been invited to compete in the championship.
