Homowo races continue today

Phillip Tekoe's Ikaida is set to make the headlines again next week at the second day of the 2017 Homowo Festival Race Meetings, which will come off today at the Accra Turf Club.

The six-year-old colt will bid to give jockey Benjamin Kotey, a record second successive win in two weeks in the competition, which is under the distinguished patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a conversation with the Daily Graphic, Jockey Benjamin Kotey, who rode Ikaida to finish first in the Division 4A race said: We know what is at stake so we have not rested since last weekend's victory. We are working so hard to repeat the feat to make it double."

A total of 20 runners have been declared fit for the event, with five representing the Omar Sattout Stables, including Jockey Joseph Lamptey, Sam T. Madu, E.A. Dery and Jonathan Mensah.

A jockey  Issaka Gariba, who doubles as a trainer has chosen to ride Beauty Queen ahead of competitiors; Chelsea, Larro, Wonder Boy, Diva, Happiness, African Queen, King of Kings, Snow White and La Super Amanda, in the Novices event.
