Hasaacas Ladies grab three more players ahead of new season
In their quest to beef up the squad ahead of the 2023/24 Malta Guinness Ghana Women’s Premier League season, Hasaacas Ladies have signed three new players.
The players are Belinda Samed from Candy’s Soccer Academy, Lovia Akorful from Ideal Ladies FC and Vivian Cudjoe from Brightsam Ladies FC.
While forward Belinda and promising winger Vivian signed a one-year contract each, defender Lovia was recruited on a two-year contract.
For 18-year-old Belinda, she arrived at Hasmal having impressed in last season’s Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. Belinda was the jewel of her team where she scored some very important goals. However, they suffered relegation at the end of the season.
In her first official interview with the club, she said “I joined this club because I am convinced this is the right place for me to develop into the professional player I always dream of and I was well convinced by the coach as well about the vision of Hasaacas Ladies and how well they will elevate me”
“Belinda is a player I monitored very well last season though her team weren’t doing so well and they suffered relegation, she is someone who will offer us a lot with her talent and I’m looking forward to work with her and I’m about to brighten and prepare her up for the upcoming season as she’s also aware of the standards of being Hasaacas Ladies player,” Coach Yusif Basigi told the club website.
On the other hand, Lovia is a player who coach Yusif Basigi described as a prospect who can develop into a world class player. She was adjudged the Best Defender of the Season in the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Division One League on two consecutive occasions in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
“I chose Hasaacas Ladies Football Club because of their track record in developing players to reach their highest potentials and the opportunity to also climb higher stages in football. They are among the best teams in Africa and the best female club in Ghana and their vision is in alignment with my dream of being a top-tier footballer,” Lovia said in an interview.
Finally, Vivian is a faster and skillful winger tipped to take the Women’s Premier League by storm. The talented winger was poached from Brightsam Ladies due to her ability to read the game and effectively control the ball.
“I’ve been following Vivian since last year for her signature and I’m thankful that her club has finally released her to us due to my constant persuasion and admiration for her talent — She is one quality player I’m happy to have in my squad because this season’s purchases are all strategic signings as we are now building a formidable team to compete fully for the 2023/24 league season. I’m so happy to have her in my team” coach Yusif Basigi said.
