Handball boss appeals to Ministry to repay loan
The vice-chairman of the Handball Association of Ghana (HAG), Mr Nortey Dowuona, has appealed to the Youth and Sports Ministry to repay the $20,000 loan facility the association secured for the All Africa Games qualifiers in Niger a week ago.

According to him, the association was forced to seek financial help from the NDK Financial Services to ensure the Black Fingers compete in the event after failing to secure funds for the team to travel.
“We don’t want any so-called judgement debt at our behest; we took the loan in the name of the ministry as directed and I appeal to the ministry to make repayment to that effect,” Mr Dowuona told the Daily Graphic last Thursday.
Ghana’s male and female handball teams failed to qualify for this year’s All Africa Games slated for Congo Brazzaville in September following the team’s late arrival in Niamey, Niger, for the qualifiers.
The team’s late arrival, was due to the failure of the Sports Ministry to make available funds for the trip.
the leadership of the association had to seek help from NDK Financial Services.
However, with interest accruing from the loan, Mr Dowuona is tasking the government to, as a matter of urgency, facilitate repayment to forestall any future debt to the state.
Mr Dowuona said the no-money syndrome at the National Sports Authority (NSA) and its parent body, the Youth and Sports Ministry, was gradually killing the least financed sporting disciplines in the country.
