Goldstars, Kotoko to thrill Bibiani fans today

Coach Michael Osei has fired a salvo to Asante Kotoko to expect fireworks in this afternoon’s promising thriller against Goldstars at the Dun’s Park at Bibiani.

According to Coach Osei, while his heart was for Kotoko as a former player, his bread was buttered by Goldstars hence his determination to floor his mother club to impress the home fans.

While the young promising coach hopes to see his bold prediction reflect on the pitch this afternoon, it is worthy to note that both teams have not suffered  defeat yet in the two matches played in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL).

League Leaders, Kotoko, will seek to continue their winning streak after the 3-1 drubbing of Dreams FC and a 2-0 win over Bechem Youth, though Goldstars could be their toughest challenge yet.

At their Bibiani fortress, the new entrants are quite invincible, hence the need for Coach Narteh Ogum to tinker away from the ‘sudden death’ goals his charges scored in their two previous matches to steal away victory.

New acquisition, Richmond Lamptey, opened his account against Dreams FC but struggled to find the net against Bechem United in Kumasi last Sunday. The midfielder, alongside Salifu Mudasiru, Samuel Boateng, Isaac Oppong and skipper Ismail Ganiyu have been the hit men for Kotoko so far.

Brazilian import, Fabio Gama, is yet to find his form and forward Joseph Amoako, who usually plays as a substitute, struggles to connect with the attack when he comes on. Coach Ogum, therefore, needs to rejig his team and also sharpen the Kotoko attack in this afternoon’s encounter.

Goldstars, on the other hand, seem to be on a jolly ride after beating Berekum Chelsea 1-0 at home, followed by a gallant 1-1 away draw against Medeama SC at Tarkwa last Tuesday. This impressive record for the newcomers will boost their confidence to put up a stiff opposition against Kotoko as they rely on forwards Kingsford Boafo and Joshua Akoto in their frantic bid to upset Kotoko.

Coach Michael Osei has thrown the dice, and whether Coach Narteh Ogum will take the bait is a mystery which will be unravelled at the Dun’s Park at Bibiani this afternoon.
