Ghana revives Qatar 2022 WC qualification with win over Zimbabwe

The Black Stars of Ghana revived their Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup qualification after amassing six points from two games against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast and Harare.

Similarly, South Africa also amassed six points against Ethiopia to continue to stay at the top of Group G.

Having suffered a defeat to South Africa last month, the Black Stars were determined to pick all six points against the Warriors of Zimbabwe having sacked Coach C.K. Akonor for Serbian Milovan Rajevac.

After a 3-1 win over Zimbabwe in Cape Coast last Saturday, coupled with Tuesday's 1-0 win in Harare, the Stars moved temporarily to the top of Group G.

But they were dislodged from the top after South Africa also beat Ethiopia 1-0 having also won the weekend's match 3-1.

With the win, Ghana sits second at Group G with nine points behind South Africa who has 10 points while Ethiopia and Zimbabwe are third and fourth with three points and one point respectively.

The Black Stars next game will be against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa in November.

They will wrap up the series with a game against South Africa in Ghana.

The winner of the group will then qualify for the playoffs and play an opponent over two legs to determine the countries that will qualify for the next World Cup.
