Fitcom to kit Ghanaian clubs

Kit manufacturing firm, Fitcom, is expected to sign in Accra tomorrow a four-year sponsorship deal for some 62 local clubs.

The deal, brokered by football administrator Nana Yaw Amposah, will see Fitcom providing beneficiary clubs, comprising Premier League and Division One League sides, as well as the 16 women’s league clubs, with sets of jerseys, training kits, polo shirts and other equipment for free.

Mr Demirkaya Tunahan, General Manager of Fitcom, and Mr Ertemcoz Serdar, the Africa agent for the Turkish firm, arrived in Accra last Monday for tomorrow’s signing ceremony.

Clubs such as Techiman Eleven Wonders, Bechem United, Karela FC, New Edubiase, B.A. United, Nea Salamina, Achiken FC, King Faisal, Nkoranza Warriors, Sporting Mirren and Nania FC have reportedly accepted the offer to be kitted by Fitcom and already received samples of the kits.

“A deal has been agreed for Fitcom to sponsor 62 Ghanaian clubs, including some Premier League, Division One sides and all teams in the women’s league. Over 25 clubs have received samples already and confirmed interest, while 35 others have shown interest,” said Nana Amponsah, founder and president of division one side, Phar Rangers.

“Fitcom is noted for supplying sports brands such as Jako, Hummel and Kappa for a number of teams in the German, Italian and Turkish topflight but has no real foothold in Africa, hence the initiative.

“I managed to convince them [Fitcom] to brand Ghana clubs as a gateway to entering the African market.

I believe in branding and packaging our teams as I have on numerous occasions reiterated, and this is one step in helping all teams to brand themselves properly.”

The sponsorship is expected to start from the 2019/20 league season.
