29 Stars to camp in Abu Dhabi

Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, has reportedly released a 29-man squad for a pre-AFCON camping in Abu Dhabi next month.

The list, purported to have been submitted to the Normalisation Committee Ghana Football Association (GFA) last Monday, has a balance of experienced and youthful players, with the inclusion of three local-based players.

In the goalkeeping department, former WAFA shot stopper, Razak Abalora of Azam FC of Tanzania is the only addition to the trio of Richard Ofori, Lawrence Ati Zigi and Felix Annan.

Also, Columbus Crew duo of Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful made the squad, while Yaw Yeboah and Ebenezer Ofori also make a return, with youngster Samuel Owusu also earning his first call-up.

Conspicuously missing from the squad is Asamoah Gyan, who announced his retirement from the national team last Monday over his fear that he was to be stripped of the team’s captaincy.
