Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has tipped this Ghanaian wonderkid for greatness

Teen star Ernest Nuamah has received high praise from Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan, who tipped the 19-year-old to reach new heights in his career.

Nuamah, who plays for Danish side FC Nordjaelland, put on a stellar display during Ghana's victory over Algeria in the final round of qualifiers for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.

He provided an assist for the Black Meteors, who secured their place in the tournament in Morocco in June after a 2-1 aggregate win. Nuamah was a thorn in the flesh of the Algerians with his blistering pace and trickery throughout the tie yesterday.

Following the game, Gyan took to social media to laud Nuamah, describing him as "another next big thing for Ghana." Interestingly, the youngster wears the same number (3) Gyan used to wear for the national teams during his heyday.

The tournament, which runs from June 23 to July 8, offers Ghana a chance to end their Olympic Games drought, having failed to qualify since 2004. The 2024 Olympic Games are set to take place in Paris.
