Eto’o storms Accra Monday

One of Africa’s most successful footballers, Samuel Eto’o, would storm Accra on Monday to begin the filming of FIFA’s 11 for health programme.

The Camerounian international would be coming alongside FIFA chief medical officer Prof Jiri Dvorak and they are expected to visit the Kotobabi ‘3’ JHS at Alajo.

The 34-year-old former Chelsea player will be part of the season 5 and 6 alongside a series of programmes he is expected to undertake while in the country.

Ghana was chosen for the progrmame after FIFA approved the country as the first in the world for the fourth leg of the 'FIFA 11 for Health' programme that trains kids in school to avoid health problems through various football drills. 

Also on the agenda on the day would be the launch of the programme by Prof. Dvorak and Eto'o after which they are expected to hold a meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president and members of the Executive Committee.

Subsequently, officials of the FIFA Medical and Research Centre (F-MARC), as well as GFA officials, would address the media during a briefing at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Afterwards the delegation would call on the Ministers of Health, Education, and Youth & Sports.

The “11 for health” programme has so far covered 500 schools across Ghana with1,000 teachers and about 30,000 students having gone through the training programme.
