Speaking as the special guest of honour at the 6th MTN FA Cup Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the State House last Friday, Ambassador Quarcoo said “the deep-rooted tension between the two bodies needs to be addressed immediately or we forget about qualification to the World Cup”.

The former Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) president added that: “ The earlier we put our house in order, the better. How do we expect the Black Stars to do well, when the two authorities expected to work as a team to ensure victory continue to fight?. Ultimately and certainly, Ghana will be the loser should this fight persist.”

Mr Quarcoo congratulated the award winners and lauded the FA Cup Committee (FACC) for putting together a wonderful programme to motivate players and football administrators in the country.

In all, 15 personalities were awarded, including Bechem United’s Yaw Arno,l who grabbed three awards – Player of the Season, Top Scorer and Goal of the Season, while his team mate, Alfred Nelson, was adjudged the Defender of the Season.

The rest were Coach Manuel Zacharias (Coach of The Season), Akoto Danso (Promising Player of The Season), Abass Mohammed (Goalkeeper of The Season), Albert Aryeetey Commey (Match Commissioner of The Season), Awal Mohammed (Referee of The Season), Nii Kotei Kotey (Assistant Referee of The Season) and Emmanuel Ansah (Most Promising Referee).

Special awards were given to Ibrahim Dossey, Robert Duncan, Abeiku Wilson and Nii Kotei Koey at the colourful event which was sponsored by MTN and Priority Insurance for their contributions towards the success of the competition.
