Boxing fiesta attract young boxers

It was a delight to watch impressive performances from aspiring young boxers last Friday at the Junction Mall, Nungua, in Accra during the second round of Cabic Promotions’ Amateur Boxing Championship Series.

The night was marked with 12 different fights as young boxing prospects proved their worth in the sport with impressive performances.

Cabic Promotions, a new boxing promotion syndicate, after a successful maiden Amateur Boxing Championship at Osu in Accra, decided to offer the young athletes another opportunity to showcase their talents.

Christian Commodore beat Emmanuel Sackey, Michael Abban defeated Abraham Mensah and Yussif Seidu lost to Holy Dogbetor in the lightweight contests of the night.

In the light flyweight bouts, Emmanuel Mawuli lost to Theophilus Amarquaye while Abdul Aziz Seidu was beaten by Abdul Latif Haruna with Gabriel Coffie being victorious over Faisal Zibor in the lightweight bouts among other fights.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cabic Promotions, Ivan Cudjoe, said his outfit was keen on developing the sport from the grassroots in order to have a strong team as the Black Bombers in the near future.

That, he noted, would help groom and develop young boys to become future world beaters when they turn professionals.

"We want to groom these young boys and develop them to be future world beaters. We want to have what we want to call, shadow Black Bombers.

"It is our belief that the Black Bombers will soon be approaching us to use our boxers in the national team," he said.
