Asomani rules in Ecobank golf

Daniel Asomani became the star of last Saturday’s 2017 ECOBANK Cup golf competition when he returned a net score of 66 to win the competition at the Achimota golf course.

Playing with a handicap of nine, Asomani maintained his composure despite the difficult obstacles on the course until he got to the greens where he delivered a beautiful putt into the hole.

His closest challenger, Teye Lartey, equally exhibited his skills with an excellent tee off and continued with some fine strokes but fell behind Dabrah with two points despite playing with a handicap of six.

Ben Dabrah finished third with a net score of 70 to complete a great day for the trio in Group A all of whom improved upon their handicaps.

The ladies category also recorded some interesting results with Constance Awuni winning the competition with a net score of 76, playing with a handicap of eight. She was followed in second position by Captan Elizabeth who finished with a net of 77, and Morgan Ama who came third with a net score of 79.

In the men’s Group B, Rey Ben Johnson scored a net of 65 to win the contest and was followed by Joseph Tieku who won countback with a net score of 70, playing with a handicap of 25. Peter Abrokwah, who also recorded a net of 70 with a handicap of 22, finished in third position.

Alberta Lomofio won in the ladies Group B with a net of 65, Niine Sarpong and Mariatu Bah followed in that order with a net score of 73 and 76, respectively. Benny Mimis and Lucia Jonck won the Closest to the Pin for men and ladies respectively, while James Kally, and Owusu Baah won the Longest Drive for men and ladies respectively.
