Akonnor backs coaches Sarpong, Nurudeen

Head Coach of Dreams FC, Charles Kwabla Akonnor, says it is too early to sack any coach since the league is only three weeks old.

The former Black Stars skipper has, therefore, made a passionate appeal to clubs in the competition to be patient with their coaches as the league progressed.

Akonnor was surprised that just after two matches in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), some coaches had come under intense pressure to deliver, with Coach Nurudeen Amadu resigning from Aduana Stars and another, Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong of Ebusua Dwarfs FC, reported to be on his way out.

In an interview with the GNA Sports, Coach Akonnor said “I am a bit surprised about how coaches are being put under pressure from management and supporters to resign. I think coaches need to be supported by their management because it is early days yet".

Akonnor believed the success of his club was due to the open relationship between the playing body and the technical team as well, as management.
