“For me to have won these two awards is a miracle. I never expected this although I know I have contributed a lot to highlife music” he told Showbiz in an interview last Tuesday.

According to Opoku Mensah   who  has worked with great musicians such as Elton John, Salif Keita, Hugh Masekele, Rocky Dawuni, Amandzeba, the journey has not been easy getting this far.

“I always wanted to be big on both the local and international scene and I am happy my hard work is paying off now.  I almost gave up this great talent but with perseverance and hard work here I am doing great” he said.

Away from his awards, Opoku Mensah who prefers to be called Pokus is out with two singles Cheating No Good and Ooyah.

On Cheating No Good,  Pokus asks both men and women to stop cheating and advises partners to remain faithful to each other in order to enjoy a lasting and healthy relationship.

Talking about the music industry in Ghana, Pokus who has been performing at the National Theatre, Goethe Institute and + 233 said Ghanaian music can go very far. And he believes highlife music can get us there.
