In a riveting basketball clash held at the Bukom Boxing Arena as part of the African Basketball Festival, Accra Technical University (ATU) emerged victorious over their rivals, the University of Ghana (UG), in a one-off tie last Saturday.

The closely contested match ended with ATU securing a narrow one-point victory, silencing their rivals and claiming bragging rights for the upcoming year.

UG initially started the tie as the stronger side, surging ahead with an impressive 8-11 lead fueled by swift fastbreaks that ATU struggled to counter. However, ATU turned the tide in the second quarter, finishing with a commanding 17-6 advantage. They maintained the one-point lead through the third quarter, concluding with a 23-22 scoreline, ultimately clinching the game with a 28-27 win.

Organized by Rite Sports, the tournament is part of the "Beyond The Return" initiative by the Ghana Tourism Authority. The event featured a diverse lineup of teams, including Togo, Nigeria, Liberia, France, USA, and Senegal.

The night at the Bukom Boxing Arena was not only filled with intense basketball action but also showcased musical performances by Kobi Rana, Krymi, and various exciting young talents in the country. Up-and-coming rappers seized the opportunity to showcase their skills through a lyrical battle.

The festivities continued with a slam dunk showdown, treating fans to jaw-dropping dunks and three-point shootouts by some of the most skilled athletes in the game.
