Access Bank Division One League: Bofoakwa sink Berekum Arsenal  

Bofoakwa Tano tightened their grip on the top spot of the Access Bank Division One League (Zone One B) with a 2-0 victory over Berekum Arsenal at the Sunyani Coronation Park last Sunday.

Enoch Abu opened the scoring in the 35th minute to give the home side a lead as they went into the break with a 1-0 lead. However, Arsenal could not stage a comeback after recess as Hamza Gonji made it 2-0 for Bofoakwa in the 74th minute with a goal that nailed the Berekum side’s coffin and sent them crashing out of the division one into the third-tier league next season.

 In other matches, Brong Ahafo United defeated Young Apostles 1-0, while Nkoranza Warriors thumped Baffour Soccer Academy 3-1.

Elsewhere at Techiman, Zone One A league leaders Eleven Wonders defeated Wa Suntaa 2-0 at Ohene Ameyaw Park through goals by Prince Baffoe (ninth minute) and Edward Ansah (61st).

Eleven Wonders took their points build-up to 52 from 27 matches, five points adrift second-placed Debibi United who humbled Kumbung Binbiem 4-0 at home.

Abdul Yakubu opened the floodgates in the 45th minute before Hardi Muhazu doubled the lead nine minutes into the second half, with Dauda Yahaya Sadam (76th minute) and Wisdom Zakari (81st) scoring to keep their side in the hunt for a playoff spot.

In Zone Two, Elmina Sharks beat Future Stars 2-1 at Nduom Sports Complex to boost their chances of survival, with Stephen Okai and Karim Madja scoring in either half to ensure victory for the Elmina side.

Basake Holy Stars stunned Kenpong Football Academy 1-0 with Prince Opoku scoring in the 29th minute for Holy Stars, while Soccer Intellectuals earned a 1-0 home win against Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs with Anthony Nimo's 43rd minute goal securing victory for his side.

Zone three champions, Kpando Heart of Lions, were held to a scoreless draw by Prampram Uncle T United who are fighting to retain their place in the division but failed to take their chances in the match.

In Accra, Liberty Professionals defeated Tema Youth 2-1, while Koforidua Semper Fi earned a lone goal victory against Volta Rangers through Gideon Rockson’s 61st minute winning goal.
