2020 Gusa Games: University of Ghana thrash GIMPA

University of Ghana (UG) took off in a grand style as their male football team outclassed Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with a 3-0 victory in their opening football game of the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games played last Monday.

A brace by Vladimir Vanderpuye in the 19th and 36th minutes and a goal by Buabeng Felix in the 32nd minute sealed the victory for the hosts before a vociferous crowd, including management of the school.

Total dominance

Cheered on by their students, UG maintained their composure right from the start as they remained impressive till the final whistle.

GIMPA struggled throughout the game and despite making a few attempts at goal, their efforts yielded no result as the game ended 3-0 in favour of the hosts.

In other matches, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) won 5-0 against the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), University of Development Studies beat UPSA 1-0 while the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) beat the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) 1-0.

In basketball, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) ladies defeated their counterparts from the University of Development Studies (UDS) 142-20 with UG men defeating the Ghana Institute of Journalism 103-08.

The University of Ghana men also opened the volleyball competition with 25-04 win against the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT).
