MTN presents GH¢50,000 for SWAG Awards

Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana, has presented a sponsorship package worth GH¢50,000 towards the 46th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards slated for December 17 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The package comprised a cash component of GH¢50,000, phones, airtime and souvenirs to be handed to award winners and also help in the organisation of the event.

Presenting a dummy cheque to SWAG, the Chief Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Mr Samuel Koranteng, said his outfit was committed to the awards aimed at putting smiles on the faces of deserving sportsmen and women during the 2021 calendar year.

He said people within the sporting fraternity looked forward to the awards and commended SWAG for its role in monitoring sportsmen throughout the year and celebrating them accordingly at the event.

“It is an awards that we will continue to support because it has continuously rewarded sporting excellence over the years.

“This is a way of helping young athletes in the country who want to realise their dreams through sports. I believe they look up to this award every year and I want to take the opportunity to commend the leadership of SWAG for its continuous reward to deserving sportsmen and women,” Mr Koranteng said.

For his part, the president of SWAG, Mr Kwabena Yeboah, expressed appreciation to MTN for the support which they continued to receive for over a decade and assured that the money would be put to good use to ensure a successful and memorable event.

He noted that SWAG had introduced the much-anticipated SWAG Journalist of the Year Award in this year’s edition and assured its members that only deserving personalities would be rewarded.

“MTN and SWAG stand for excellence and we are certain that, with both outfits working together, the awards would only get better with time,“ he stated.

“We are assuring MTN that the money donated would be put to good use to enable us have a successful and memorable event”.
