Manhyia rules out Nana Yaw Amponsah's appointment

Amponsah, founder of Division One League side, Phar Rangers, was tipped to get the nod as the new Kotoko CEO after impressing the nine-member Board of the club with his five-year plan at a strategic meeting in Accra last week.

However, Mr Mensah disclosed in an interview on Tuesday that the Manhyia Palace was not enthused about the manner in which details of that meeting was leaked to the media afterwards.

Without being specific, he referred to an instance in the past where former Ghanaian international, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, lost an opportunity to become Kotoko's CEO under similar circumstances after engaging Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in discussions in conn2ction with the job.

"This should be a lesson for everybody who wants to work in Kotoko," he stressed.

He stressed that Kotoko have a tradition of respecting protocol rather than leaking vital information to the public indiscriminately and therefore expects all its employees to comply with that.

He further disclosed that Manhyia was equally unhappy with the former CEO of the club, George Amoako, for choosing to discuss his five-month salary arrears in the media instead of channeling it through the appropriate quarters.

With this new twist, Board chairman, Dr Kwame Kyei, and his team have no choice than to keep hunting for a new CEO who fits into their philosophy.
