The Women’s Uc league Board (WLB) has announced the rescheduling of the start of the National Women’s League (NWL) following the late submission of registration forms by some of the participating clubs.
The league was to have started over the weekend, but the extension of the registration of players from October 18 to October 26 compelled the League Board to reschedule the start of the second season of the NWL.
According to the WLB, the lack of financial support had affected most of the 12 who were facing serious challenges in raising funds for both the registration and affiliation fees.
The WLB said it wouldmeet today to discuss the new date for the start of the competition and urged the teams not to relent in their preparations for the big kickoff.
Twelve clubs, grouped into two zones, will be competiting in the league. Maiden champions, Sekondi Hasaacas, Soccer Intellectuals, Immigration Ladies, LadyStrikers from Cape Coast, Akuapem Young Ladies Association (Ayola) and debutants, Police Ladies will compete in the southern zone.
The northern zone will have runners-up, Fabulous Ladies, Ashtown Ladies, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Prisons Ladies, and debutants, Sharp Arrows from Bolgatanga as well as Oforikrom Ladies vying for honours in the zone.
The winners of the respective zones will meet in the champions match while there will also be a play-off to determine the third team to be relegated after the last teams in each of the zones are automatically relegated.
