The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has described as a hoax reports that German coach Klaus Toppmoeller sneaked into the country three days ago to hold talks with the country’s football authorities for a possible attachment to the Black Stars technical bench at the World Cup.
Since the German’s name popped up out of nowhere that he was being considered as a technical advisor to Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah, his image has loomed large on Ghana’s march towards next year’s FIFA world Cup in Brazil.
Rumours about his arrival in Accra last Tuesday night spread like wildfire and sent journalists on a wild goose chase to ascertain the truth about his supposed presence at the Holiday Inn Hotel at Airport City.
GFA spokesman, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, who on numerous occasions had distanced the football association from any move for Toppmoeller, denied any such proposed talks with the German for a possible appointment.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt coach was reportedly on German TV last Wednesday night as an analyst during the UEFA Champions League.
