Coach Maxwell Konadu has promised to turn the tide as the Stars engage their Guinean counterparts tomorrow for the second time in four days at the Tamale Sports Stadium in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying series.
The first encounter which ended in a one all drawn game was played at the Guinean adopted home of Morocco and while the first half saw a marauding Stars charging at their opponents, in the second half of the game, the Stars were listless.
Coach Konadu admitted his charges made some tactical errors at the back and according to him such mistakes must not be repeated in tomorrow’s encounter.
“The Guineans are a good side but we weren’t compact enough in defence and this created room for their attackers to press for a goal [in the first leg],” Konadu said in a post-match interview.
“I’ve noted the mistakes and when we get back home we will fix them before the return leg match in Tamale.”
Away from their first encounter, an “ unwanted” Black Stars in front of their home fans, will attempt to pacify an angry home crowd with a resounding victory over a tough tackling and tactically disciplined Guinean team.
However all said and done, coach Konadu must give a good account of himself if he is to remain the assistant coach of the Black Stars.
