Ghana winger, Christian Atsu, has stated that the Black Stars did not expect to lose to Senegal in the first match of the AFCON 2015 competition.
Ghana had taken the lead in the first half through an Andre Ayew penalty, but Senegal came back to win 2-1.
“This was not a result that we expected but that is football. Conceding at the last minute is so painful. Now we have to go all out against Algeria and beat them,” Atsu told Goal Ghana.
He, however, expressed optimism that the Black Stars will beat Algeria in their second group game to keep their tournament hopes alive.
“I am optimistic we can beat them though it will not be easy, we quickly have to forget about the Senegal defeat and start focusing on Algeria,” he said.
