The Premier League Board (PLB) has postponed the sixth week Premier League match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Sekondi Hassacas from October 13 to October 16 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This fixture change was necessitated because of the crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off between Ghana’s Black Stars and the Pharaohs of Egypt on October 15 in Kumasi.
According to PLB Chairman, Welbeck Abra-Appiah, the decision to postpone the match was taken to ensure that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was free for use by both Black Stars and the Pharaohs ahead of the World Cup qualifier.
“We met today [Tuesday] at the Ghana Football Association and we have taken some decisions. As discussed in the meeting, the match day, sixth fixture between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Hasaacas, has been postponed to the 16th of next month to give enough room for both the Black Stars and the Pharaohs to train at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium,” Mr Abra-Appiah told football website, footy-ghana.com.
Apart from the Kotoko-Hasaacas game, all the remaining sixth week fixtures will go ahead on Sunday, October 13.
